Advisor Dr. Kendra Dickinson was there to hood Gabriela, in a ceremony for doctoral students meant to signify their distinguished status as scholars that can be traced back to medieval Europe. Most importantly, family, friends, peers, and faculty were there to celebrate! |
Gabriela successfully defended her doctoral dissertation, entitled What makes a teacher? Attitudes toward teachers’ language varieties in the Spanish language classroom, in November 2024. In addition to advisor Kendra Dickinson, Dr. Joseph Casillas, Dr. Tom Stephens, and Dr. Victor Fernández-Mallat served on her committee. Read her dissertation here.
Since mid-2024, Gabriela has been working at Drexel University’s Teaching and Learning Center as Assistant Director of Online and Digital Pedagogy. In this role, Gabriela has put her commitment to inclusive teaching, accessibility, and language justice into practice to make a differen in the learning experiences of students at Drexel University. We can’t wait to see what she does next.
Congratulations, felicitades, felicitări, Gabriela!
